With the Rio Declaration and Local Agenda 21 sustainability
has become a widely acknowledged and discussed concept and
a "mega-trend" in diverse economic fields.
Information as factor of production, as consumer good and
as an instrument of power characterizes the core element
of the Information Society. It raises opportunities for
new ways of libing and gives hope for a real sustainable
development. With its ecological, economical and social
mechanisms of ongoing developments have to be carefully
observed and challenged.
